Restrictions help you control when and where teams play so your schedule fits everyone’s needs.

Why Restrictions Matter

Adding these restrictions saves you a ton of time. This makes it easier to manually fix conflicts or if using the auto-schedule, the system handles them for you—making scheduling faster, smoother, and far less stressful.

Here's how:

  1. Open Scheduling in the top navigation bar.

  2. Select your event, then click Teams in the left menu.

  3. Find the team you want to update and click the three dots (⋮) next to their name.

  4. Click Notes & Restrictions to open their restriction settings.

From here, you can update any of the following.

Time Restrictions

Use this when a team has a request about when they can (or cannot) play.

Examples:

  • “Done by 3:00”

  • “No early morning games”

  • “Cannot play until after 12 PM”

  • “Early Saturday, late Sunday” (multi-day events)

To set a time restriction:

  1. Open the Time Restrictions dropdown.

  2. Choose a preset (like Morning, Afternoon, Done By 3:00, etc.).

  3. Save your changes.

💡 Tip: Time restrictions directly affect the auto-scheduler. Only add what’s necessary to keep your schedule flexible.

Coach Restrictions

Use this when multiple teams share the same coach and cannot play at the same time.

Examples:

  • Two or more teams coached by the same person

  • A coach with teams in different grade levels

  • “Coach for 6th and 7th grade teams — no overlapping games”

  • A coach who must finish one game before starting the next

To link coach groups:

  1. In Link Coach Restriction Teams, type the names of every team that shares the coach and tap the check box to add/link the team.

  2. Select a color tag for the group.

    • All teams with the same color appear linked on the schedule.

    • This makes it easy to avoid giving them overlapping game times.

  3. Save your changes.

💡 Tip: Use the same color for all teams with the same coach so they’re easy to recognize while scheduling.

Location Restrictions

Use this when a team needs to play at a specific venue or avoid certain locations.

Examples:

  • “Please schedule us in Northbrook only.”

  • “We must play at Romeoville.”

  • “We cannot play at Facility C.”

To set a location restriction:

  1. Open the Location Restrictions dropdown.

  2. Select the required facility.

  3. Save your changes.

Updating Team Details

From the Notes & Restrictions screen, you can also update:

  • Grade Level

  • Competitive Level

  • Guaranteed Games

  • Team Name

These updates help keep the schedule accurate and ensure teams land in the correct divisions.

Handling New Requests After Registration

If a team sends an updated request by email, phone, or on event day:

  1. Open Notes & Restrictions.

  2. Add their update in the Notes field.

  3. Apply the matching restriction (time, coach, or location).

  4. Save your changes.

💡 Tip: Notes alone won’t affect scheduling — restrictions must be entered to apply.
