Manual scheduling gives you full control over placing games on your schedule grid. You choose the exact court, time, and order for each matchup. This method is great when you want hands-on control or when teams have special requests that auto-scheduling can’t fully satisfy.
Create Your Schedule
Here’s how:
Go to Scheduling and open your event.
Click the Schedule tab.
Choose your venue and date at the top of the page.
On the left side, find the division you want to schedule.
Click to add that division’s games into the Workbench (the bar just under the schedule grid).
In the Workbench, you’ll see tiles for that division’s games.
Drag a game from the Workbench up onto the schedule grid.
Drop the game onto the court and time you want—it appears on the grid right away.
💡 As you drag a game from the Workbench, some time blocks on the grid may highlight in red. These red slots show times that may conflict with team or coach preferences (for example, tight turnarounds or coach overlaps). You still have full control—sometimes you’ll need to schedule a game in a red block because you can’t please everyone.
Adjusting Games on the Grid
Manual scheduling is flexible—you can move games at any time.
Drag a game to a new court or time to reposition it.
Click or hover to view matchup details.
If there’s a conflict, you’ll see a “!” warning in the Warnings area below the grid.
Warnings often point to:
A coach with two games at once
Not enough rest time between games
Pool or round timing problems
You can keep adjusting until the schedule fits your needs.
Using Manual Scheduling with Auto-Scheduling (Blended Approach)
You can combine the best of both.
Manually place important or high-priority games first.
Then run Auto-Schedule to fill the remaining open slots.
Auto-scheduling will not move the games you placed manually.
Here's how:
Drag games from the Workbench onto the schedule grid to place any games you want to lock in before running auto-schedule.
[Optional] Create a restore point to save your current layout. This gives you a safe version to return to if you want to try again.
Click Auto-schedule to set your rules and preferences. This will allow you to choose the settings Fastbreak should follow for automatic scheduling.
Return to the Schedule tab.
Tap the Auto-Schedule button (Create Schedule) at the top of the page.
Fastbreak will schedule all remaining games around the games you placed manually.
Resetting Your Schedule
If you want to undo your changes or start fresh, Fastbreak lets you return to an earlier version of your schedule using restore points. This is helpful when you want to try different rule setups, test changes, or clear the grid so you can run auto-schedule again.
To learn how to do this, see the Restore Points article.
💡 Restore points do not affect your matchups or time slot setup. They only control what appears on the schedule grid, so you can experiment without losing your work.
