Discount Categories allow you to assign automatic discounts to groups of customers, such as VIP teams, returning programs, or partner organizations. Unlike discount codes (which we cover in the linked article), these discounts are automatically applied whenever those customers register for an event.
Here's how:
From the top navigation, click Sales.
Select Discount Categories.
Click Create Discount.
Configure your discount category:
Label
Enter the name of the discount category. This is the name you will see when assigning customers to the category (for example: MVP Teams, Partner Programs, or Returning Teams).Face Value or Percentage
Choose how the discount will be applied:Min Event Price
Set the minimum event price required before the discount applies. This prevents the discount from applying to events priced below the threshold.Max Event Price (Optional)
Set a maximum event price where the discount still applies. This can help control the total discount value on higher-priced events.Customer Category
Assign the category name that customers will be placed into (for example: MVP). Once a customer is assigned to this category, the discount will automatically apply to their registrations. If you don't already have categories you can easily create them via the free text box.Event Types (Optional)
Choose which event types the discount applies to (such as tournaments or leagues). This allows you to limit discounts to specific event formats.Description (Optional)
Add internal notes explaining what the discount category is used for, such as “Returning MVP teams receive 10% off events.”
Click Create Discount to save the category.
💡 Tip: Discount categories are often used for loyal customers, partner clubs, or high-volume teams that frequently attend your events.
